Tribute to my Mom

Yesterday I canned applesauce pretty much by myself. Well, Kensi and Brons helped me and in the afternoon Candice stopped by to keep me company (thank you! Much needed). Then Misty came over to help after she got off work so I was not completely alone, but for a while I was flyin solo. That is the introduction to my day. Now I'll break it down for posterity's sake and so that Kensi and my unborn daughter might feel some bolstering when they attempt their first day of canning alone.

7:45-Go to walmart to pick up canning lids. They don't have them anymore.
8:00-Call Alea and ask her where she got hers that I borrowed when I canned with her and Dave.
8:15-Buy canning lids at Albertson's

8:30-10:00...Children arise, morning rituals, bribe them into happiness after their dad leaves for work.
10:15-Pick up canner and huge pot from Alea for my applesauce adventure.

*little side note here...I was excited for what was about to begin...back to the story.

11:00-Got my first batch of apples on the stove and cooking. Still excited. Have no idea what I've gotten myself into.

Pretty much it doesn't matter what happened after this because I could say it all in these words. I'm 30 weeks pregnant and I have two kids. WHAT THE HECK WAS I THINKING????? Just kidding, that was a little more dramatic than it should have been. But here's the point, I canned til about 6 and got 16 quarts of applesauce. Just so you know my mom would have gotten like 100... Bronson is teething. Kensi had pneumonia last week and is actually doing much better but we're still a little emotional, especially after thanksgiving day when she got her finger smashed/crushed in a bathroom door at a church building and had to go to the E.R. So basically, by time it was over I wasn't really that excited about canning anymore. Now we turn the time over to my super mom.

This is how her day would have gone.

4:30 A.M.-wake up, take care of everything that needs to be done for the day. Get beautiful, make all the meals for the day, put one in the freezer for next week, eat breakfast, read scriptures, pray.
5:00 A.M.-Start canning applesauce.

7:30 A.M.-Clean up the applesauce mess and start canning tomatoes.

Okay I'm exaggerating but one thing I am not kidding about, my mom gets a LOT done in a day. I really hope that I can somehow learn to be like her. She is incredible. I'm so glad she's my mom. And who knows...maybe someday my little girlies will grow up and feel just like I do right now: extremely inadequate but trying desperately to turn into a shadow of their momma. So anyway, thanks mom!! You're awesome. I really really hope that I grow up to be like you! Love you!!

A Ride on the Potty Train

So, we just found out at our house why it's called potty training. Kensi told us that it is a potty train...as in a real train. That would explain the journey. Actually Kensi is pretty much potty trained and she has done AWESOME!!! I heard that girls are easy and since I have nothing to compare this experience with, I'm going to say that it was easy. I finally got really motivated when I realized that we were spending more on diapers than food (not actually true but too close for comfort). Anyway, I'm enjoying the small break from having two kids in diapers and super excited at the thought of not having THREE in diapers. YAY!!!!!

Bronson is walking everywhere now. He crawls every once in a while but not as a main source of transportation. He has sure developed quite the personality lately!! He and Justin have been spending a lot of time bonding lately. Justin says they are creating an alliance for when they are out numbered by the girls.

I'm gonna try to upload some pictures but who knows if our internet will work so if they are here, it worked, if not...sorry. Next time.

k so the pictures worked and I just realized they are both of the kids eating...I guess we do a lot of that around here. We really just don't have that many pictures on the computer so I guess better variety will be coming later.

Well, the doctor said...

Well, we went to the doctor today and found out that everything is great with our baby. That was happy news for us. All parts in tact and the due date stayed the same and...we are expecting a baby girl!!! I am so excited. I had a dream a couple nights ago that we had an ultrasound and it was a boy and I almost started crying. I didn't know I wanted a girl so badly until that dream. So, needless to say, I'm rather excited to have a little girl. Justin really wanted a boy, he said that girls are to hard on the heart. :) Pretty cute, he's such a good daddy to his babies. He's excited too, just a little nervous about his pocketbook in the future. The other day Kensi told us that she wanted some monies. She's not even two. Welp, thats our news for the day!!!

New Additions to the Family

Just some random pictures to show how cute the kids are getting every day!

We have had some recent additions to our family. First of all, we got a piano! I am so excited about it. Our brother in law hooked us up with his parents piano that they were getting rid of. I love it! It's so nice to be able to play again, in my own house even. Plus, I'm excited that now I can teach my kids!!!

Our second addition is a bottle for the little man!! He finally took one! I'm pretty happy about this because I only have so much to give which leads me to our third addition...

A little BABY... which will be joining us in February. That is kinda the reason I haven't been blogging. I was waiting to go to the doctor and make sure everything was okay. So I finally went and everything is good to go. We have an ultrasound at our next appointment and we're still debating whether or not to find out the gender.............I don't know if I can handle not knowing. Justin says he can't so I guess our decision is made for us. But sometimes we both want to be surprised so I guess we'll see what we're feeling on that day. Anyway, that's our news.

Our Trip to the Beach.

We decided on Thursday morning that we would go to the beach to
celebrate the 50th Wedding anniversary of Justin's grandparents. As
you can tell by this picture, and the one below, our kids were very
excited for the 13 hour drive!
